About this gallery
This page is the index of a video gallery built with JAlbum, a program for making web photo and media albums. The site’s news page described it as a collection of twenty videos on the course of Irish history from early times to the present day, together with newsreel footage of the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising and three videos of Ireland set to music. The numbered thumbnails 1 to 20 make up the history series, meant to be watched in order from the top left; the last four are the musical films and the 1916 newsreel. A second page holds one further video, on the women of 1916.
The videos themselves were hosted on the original site and were not preserved when it was recovered from web archives, so the thumbnails below no longer open them. The gallery is kept as a record of the site as it was.
Irish history in text
Much of the same ground is covered by the written histories on this site. For dates and events, see the chronology of Dublin history, which runs from the earliest times to 2000. Eyewitness accounts of 1916 are gathered in the Easter Rising index, including a day-by-day diary of Easter Week. Earlier periods are covered in books such as The Sham Squire and the Informers of 1798, the Personal Recollections of Lord Cloncurry and Ireland Sixty Years Ago.
The course of Irish History videos start from the top and go from left to right. When you click on the image of your choice the video will open in a new browser window.
