About the album
This page belonged to the 2007 version of Chapters of Dublin, which used a design theme called “Wings”. It presented the photographs as a slideshow, with thumbnails that enlarged when clicked and “prev” and “next” links for moving between pages. Those controls relied on scripts that no longer run, so only the album’s description and a placeholder thumbnail survive below.
Where to see pictures of Dublin now
Historic photographs of the city can be viewed on Images of Dublin, which shows the burning of the Custom House, College Green and the Bank of Ireland, Leinster House, the Four Courts, Nelson’s Pillar, the Ha’penny Bridge, St Stephen’s Green and the Mansion House, each with a short caption. The gallery of historic Dublin photographs from the 2008 version of the site covers a similar set of subjects.
Many of the same landmarks are described in the books on the site. Picturesque Dublin Old and New has chapters on Dublin Castle, the Bank and College Green, the Quays and Stephen’s Green, and Wright’s Historical Guide includes a chapter on the Bank of Ireland. The invitation to share old photographs still stands: scans of historic pictures of Dublin can be offered through the contact page.
The recovered 2007 album page follows below.
