About this page
The recovered page from the 2007 “Wings” design contained a Google search box, buttons for search engine submission services and a reference to the Chapters article directory. None of those tools work here now, but the page is kept as part of the site’s history.
Ireland beyond Dublin
Although the site concentrates on Dublin, the Book list includes a shelf of general works on Irish history and society. The Story of Ireland by Emily Lawless and An Illustrated History of Ireland from AD 400 to 1800 by Mary Frances Cusack are broad narrative histories. The High Deeds of Finn and other Bardic Romances of Ancient Ireland by T.W. Rolleston retells early Irish legends, while The Glories of Ireland, edited by Joseph Dunn and P.J. Lennox, surveys Irish achievement across many fields.
Political questions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are covered by Ireland Under Coercion by William Henry Hurlbert, Ireland and the Home Rule Movement, Ireland In The New Century by Sir Horace Plunkett, The Open Secret of Ireland by T.M. Kettle and Ireland Since Parnell by D.D. Sheehan. Travellers’ views of the country appear in A Frenchman’s Walk Through Ireland, 1796-7 and The Irish Sketch Book by W.M. Thackeray, and English As We Speak It in Ireland by P.W. Joyce records the English spoken across the country.
